A level Maths Tutor
Over 30 years experience of teaching A level Maths has given me the tools to explain even the most challenging topics in a way that students can understand. Through years of working with students of all ages and ability levels, I have developed proven strategies to identify gaps in understanding quickly and tailor my approach to each student’s unique needs and learning style. My lessons will provide clarity, structure, and encouragement, helping students to tackle difficult concepts with confidence. I also ensure that learning stays focused on what matters most — mastering the material and achieving the results you deserve in your Maths exams.

A coach and a mentor
Success at A level Maths relies so much on what you do outside of the classroom - not just studying harder and putting in more hours of work and revision, but studying smarter. I will work with you to understand your strengths and weaknesses, and how you learn best. A teacher-student relationship is a partnership as well, keep asking questions, keep telling me what you want to practice. By doing this, not only will your 1-to-1 tutor time be tailored specifically to you, but you will have clear strategies for how to work on your own away from the classroom.

Exam focused - Practice makes perfect
We will work hard to ensure that you have a good understanding of each topic in the A level Specification, and how some of these topics link together in the same question.
We can practice what you have just done in lessons - to make your understanding more secure - or look at topics ahead of time. This will involve understanding and learning rules and formulae, and how to attempt all the basic styles of questions that might come up for that topic.
However, practising and mastering exam technique is just as important as understanding the subject content. Many perfectly good A level mathematicians don't achieve their potential because they do not practice and apply what they have learnt in class effectively under exam conditions.
I teach students how to approach questions strategically, manage their time efficiently, and structure their answers to meet examiner expectations.
There really is no substitute for attempting lots and lots of past exam questions - but also knowing how best to use mark schemes, worked solutions, and examiners reports to ensure you don't make the same mistakes others are making.
My aim is not only to help build and secure your A level Maths knowledge, but also to improve your confidence and readiness apply this knowledge when it matters most — in the actual exams.
